Named for Paul Henning, creator of the Beverly Hillbillies and Petticoat Junction, who loved Branson and donated this land to the state, the Ruth & Paul Henning Conservation Area offers some of the most rewarding hiking accessible from Branson. The Homesteaders Trail climbs through cedar glades and hardwood forest to panoramic overlooks of the Ozarks hills. In spring, the dogwood and redbud blooms are spectacular. In fall, the leaf color along the ridge creates scenes worthy of professional photography. Completely free, uncrowded, and remarkable — it's what the Ozarks are really about.
Plan on spending approximately 2 hours at Ruth & Paul Henning Conservation Area. This is enough time to fully enjoy the experience. Use our Trip Planner to slot it into your Branson itinerary.
The best time to visit is in the morning when crowds are lighter. It is located in the Strip area of Branson, making it easy to combine with other nearby stops.
Ruth & Paul Henning Conservation Area is completely free — no admission cost. Check the official website for current pricing, group rates, and any seasonal specials.
