Lakeside Forest Wilderness Area is the ultimate Branson secret. This 162-acre municipal wilderness park sits just off the Strip within the city limits, yet most visitors spend their entire trip without knowing it exists. The trails wind through mature forest with significant elevation change, past natural springs, and to a natural cave opening that hikers can enter partway. The lake overlook trails provide views of Lake Taneycomo and the surrounding hills. Early morning visits often reward wildlife sightings — deer, turkey, and numerous bird species. Pack a headlamp if you want to explore the cave section.
Plan on spending approximately 1 hour 30 min at Lakeside Forest Wilderness Area. This is enough time to fully enjoy the experience. Use our Trip Planner to slot it into your Branson itinerary.
The best time to visit is in the morning when crowds are lighter. It is located in the Strip area of Branson, making it easy to combine with other nearby stops.
